Hotel and tourism industry representatives are back on island following a very productive Canadian travel sales blitz. Members from thirteen hotels and resorts traveled to several major Canadian cities to meet with travel agents, and tour operators, as part of a marketing initiative to promote the Turks and Caicos Islands.

The travel agent shows covered the Canadian cities of Calgary, Edmonton, Vancouver, Victoria, Montreal, Ottawa, and Toronto and were a collaborated effort of the Turks and Caicos Tourist Board and Turks and Caicos Hotel and Tourism Association. The Canadian travel shows concluded a series of travel agent sales shows in the North American region that have been well received from travel agents, lending to the promise of a successful 2009/10 Winter season.

Representatives from Beaches, The Gansevoort, Ocean Club Resorts, Parrot Cay, Point Grace, The Regent Grand, Royal West Indies, The Sands, The Seven Stars, The Somerset, Tuscany, Villa Renaissance and Windsong Resort, the TCHTA and the Tourist Board met with over 350 travel agents in the various cities for dinner and hotel/destination presentations.

TCHTA's CEO, Caesar Campbell stated that, “This is a crucial time to promote our destination and our marketing initiatives, in cooperation with the Tourist Board, have been very successful in communicating with key travel agents. Thus far agents in the North American region, specifically in the Northeast Region of the United States and Canada, have been very receptive and the feedback has been very positive. We expect to see an increase in visitor arrivals from Canada in the upcoming season with the additional Air Canada flights out of Montreal, Ottawa and Toronto and the introduction of the thrice-weekly WestJet service to Providenciales starting on November 4th. The increase in flight service reflects a growing demand among Canadian tourists to visit our destination.”
