« 25-03-2010 » TURKS AND CAICOS REPRESENTED AT PREMIER TRAVEL SHOW IN THE BIG APPLE

The Turks and Caicos Islands were proudly represented at The New York Times Travel Show in February, giving over 16,000 interested travellers the opportunity to take advantage of planning and booking vacations to the islands earlier in the year.

The premier North American Travel Show, which was held at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York City showcased the most sought after domestic and international destinations, and saw a record number of trips being purchased. The Show provided consumers with the ultimate travel experience through deals, savings and online purchase opportunities.

While in the Big Apple the TCI delegation represented by the Turks and Caicos Hotel and Tourism Association, Turks and Caicos Tourist Board, The Regent Grand Resort and the Villa Renaissance had the opportunity to educate consumers, travel trade and wholesalers on TCI’s product offerings by conducting an audiovisual presentation highlighting the islands’ hotels, restaurants, attractions and culture.

“The New York Times Travel Show is one of the most effective ways to reach target consumers in New York and from across the US. The North-East in particular New York and the tri-state area, continues to be our major market source for the Turks and Caicos Islands as the islands are easily accessible with daily flights from these gateways” said TCHTA’s CEO Caesar Campbell.

The Show attracted representatives from the world’s leading tourism markets including Africa, the Caribbean, and Europe and featured seminars from top industry executives along with over 600 exhibitors who were on hand to represent more than 150 countries.

Campbell also noted that “Attendance at a show such as this one is an excellent means of connecting many travel wholesalers with thousands of travellers all looking to book their next adventure. The show allowed the Turks and Caicos Islands to strengthen our presence in the marketplace. We met with hundreds of travel agents and consumers who visited our booth, as well as trade press such as Travel and Leisure, Conde Nast Travel, World Travel News and Travel Weekly.“
